About the author

Massachusetts based sculptor Dana Filibert received a M.F.A. from Cranbrook Academy of Art, Bloomfield Hills, MI and B.F.A. from Massachusetts College of Art, Boston, MA. Her work invokes humor with sculpture that plays with contradictions of attraction and aversion. Pieces consist primarily of painted sculpture formed using metal, carved foam, epoxy, and repurposed consumer objects. Dana Filibert is in the permanent collection of the Philadelphia Art Hotel and Chrysler LCC, as well as numerous private collections. She is the recipient of the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation Fellowship Award, Ruth & Harold Chenven Foundation grant and the Artist’s Resource Trust Fund grant. Her work has been exhibited across the United States and in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Recent exhibitions include the Governor’s Island Art Fair, NYC, The Artist Project Toronto, Contemporary Sculpture at Chesterwood, Chesterwood Estate & Museum in Stockbridge, MA and Congested Highway, a Show of Works by Dana Filibert at Brown University’s Sarah Doyle Gallery in Providence, RI. Currently on view at the Albany International Airport in Albany, NY is Dana’s interior and exterior site-specific installation ‘Flight of Fancy’.
