About the author

Elaine Fleck is a painter, muralist, and mosaic artist. Her vision of painting merges her love of textiles and paint through the thoughtful but playful placing of fabric on canvas combined with rich and colorful oil paints. Her inspirations come from the intricate patterns in nature, whether they are from the texture of a reptile's skin or the multi-colored fish feeding off a coral reef. Fleck has exhibited throughout the United States including the Stables Art Gallery in Taos ,New Mexico, Perspectives Gallery at Virginia Tech, and Perlow-Stevens Gallery, Columbia, Missouri. She is the 1999 and 2000 Best in Show winner at the Art Museum of Western Virginia and was awarded a grant from the Adolph and Esther Gottlieb Foundation. Raised in a military family, Fleck has a BFA in Painting and Printmaking from Virginia Commonwealth University.
