Jeff Yeomans
About the author

Since 2003, Jeff Yeomans has pursued a career as a contemporary California painter. Born in Whittier, CA, he has enjoyed a growing audience of collectors, as well as important recognition for work that reflects his interest in beach culture, urban landscapes and the transformation of the region’s environment. His work often documents daily experiences and familiar environments. Often travel-inspired or autobiographical, they are a visual journal of light, color and form, exploring the fragile beauty of California and the connected urban landscape, that ultimately impacts it. "As a regional painter, I feel a responsibility to document California as it is today. I hope that a study of an older neighborhood, of people working, or of dancers sharing their culture, all bring respect to, and celebrate the diversity of our region." He has received numerous painting awards including “Best Urban Landscape” in 2008 at the California Art Club’s 97th Annual Gold Medal Exhibition, and exhibited in Italy at the Florence Biennial (‘05), the Oceanside Museum of Art (2010), the San Diego Art Institute (2006), Pasadena Museum of California Art (2007-2011) and the Laguna Art Museum (2008-2011). International Artist Magazine featured his work in a 10-page article in 2009, but he is most proud of a large painting commissioned for the Naval Hospital in San Diego that features surfing as a part of the physical therapy for their “Wounded Warriors” program. Seven of his paintings are included in “Land of Sunlight” a book of contemporary landscape paintings of the San Diego region. The California Art Club also selected two of his paintings for “California Light: A Century of Landscapes” celebrating 100 years of California landscapes, published by Rizzoli in 2011. He is a Signature Member of the Laguna Plein Air Painters Association and an Artist Member of the California Art Club. Yeomans lives in San Diego with his wife and children, Madilyn and Wyatt. He is represented by Art Expressions Gallery in San Diego and Studio 7 Gallery in Laguna Beach, CA.
