About the author

Mark Gagnon is originally from Salem ,Ohio and received a BFA from Ohio State University. He currently lives in New York City and is a self employed artist. As a painter he recently had his first solo show at Stricola gallery in Soho and is the recipient a "Percent for Art" commission from the city of New York.With his recent "Percent for Arts "commission Gagnon is executing a large installation of portraiture with a budget near $80,000.00 to be installed in late October. In 2008 he was exclusively commissioned by the luxury retailer of Bergdorf Goodman to depict the "History of Fashion" for their women's store. The elaborate installation was on view for one month located on the busiest intersection of manhattan 5th avenue and 57th street . Mark has executed various large scale multi faceted projects working with budgets, deadlines and clients from start to finish. Clients such as Target, Cartier, Bergdorf Goodman,ABC Carpet, Barney's, Sony and Good Morning America are amongst the highlights of Gagnon's career. In addition to his painting career Mark illustrated commercially using his unique figurative style. His Illustrated works have been featured in The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Time, Rolling Stone, Interview, GQ, V Magazine, Departures, Travel and Leisure, Harpers Bazaar, Wallpaper, Elle Decor, Paper Magazine, Visionaire and The New Yorker as well as many other publications. Some of the highlights of Marks illustrating career have been the cover of The New York Times Magazine including several full page spreads, advertising images for Barney's NY, portraits for Rolling Stone" Immortals" Issue and has been accepted in the prestigious "American Illustration".
