About the author

An east coast transplant and Rhode Island School of Design graduate, I’ve lived in the San Francisco Bay area since 1978 and have been professionally involved with fine and graphic arts since 1972. Throughout my career I’ve explored and combined diverse two dimensional media such as etching, painting, photography, and computer graphics. Much of my work is inspired by the luminous flowing forms of water, and I work with nature’s patterns to create artwork with a recognizable yet fluidly abstract sensitivity. I enjoy fusing highly representational and extremely atmospheric visual elements to evoke both the ethereal and tangible qualities of our world. I’ve exhibited throughout the United States, as well as in Japan and Venezuela. My work has been purchased or commissioned by numerous corporations and private individuals, and I’ve received grants from the city of Burlington, VT and the Center for Cultural Innovation (CCI). My artistic affiliations have included Kala Institute (Berkeley, CA), the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art Artists Gallery (San Francisco, CA), and the Pacific Art League (Palo Alto, CA). In 2012, two of my paintings were purchased for the permanent collection of the new San Francisco Public Utilities Commission building. In the fall of 2013 I’ll spend a month at Zion National Park as their artist in residence.
