About the author

Rebecca Shapiro is an abstract painter known for her luscious color and botanical-inspired pieces. Her process is a quest for my quest for kinship and meaning across her pieces, their medium and the environment. Rebecca was born in Portland, OR. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Studio Art from Smith College in Northampton, MA where she focused on illustration and printmaking. She studied photography and printmaking during her senior year away at the Glassell School of Art, Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, Texas and was a five time recipient of the Frank Freed Memorial Scholarship for Printmaking. In addition, she studied for several years with figural abstractionist, Ted Katz, in Portland, Oregon concentrating on abstract painting. She was, and still is, captivated by abstraction. Rebecca’s paintings and installations have been shown in solo and group shows throughout Oregon, Washington and Massachusetts since 1998. Her works hang in private and public collections in Massachusetts, Washington, New York, Oregon and Texas and have been sold worldwide. An active participant online, Ms. Shapiro’s art and methodology has also been written about in green business publications and art blogs.
