Tina Tahir is a Chicago-based artist who works in a variety of media. She makes temporary installations that explore the concept of beauty and destruction. She has recently received the 2015 ARTslanT juried artist showcase award in the installation category and was shortlisted for the Georgia Fee artist/writer residency in Paris. Her group exhibitions include "Acerbunundrum" at Ballroom Projects Chicago, IL, "Double Cherry" at THREEWALLS, Chicago, IL, "Ground Floor" at the Hyde Park Art Center Chicago, IL, "How to Disappear" at Paul Watkins Gallery at The University of Winona, MN, EXPO Chicago 2014, "12 Theses" at Mana Contemporary Chicago, IL, "Erasure" at The University of Wisconsin, La Crosse, WI, "A strange house in my voice" at Gallery 400, Chicago, IL, and "Shadows" at SCA Contemporary Art & Artlab, Albuquerque, NM. Solo exhibitions include "Entfernung: Distance/Erasure" at the John Sommers Gallery, Albuquerque, NM. Tahir received a MFA in Studio from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a MA in Visual and Critical Studies from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago
