American artist, Trixie Pitts grew up in Canada, where she graduated from University of Toronto. Trixie, now based in Nashville Tennessee, continues to have a very international lifestyle, having lived in Canada, USA, UK, Hong Kong and Singapore. While living in Hong Kong for many years, she taught beginner and intermediate oil and acrylic painting to expat women from all over the world. While living in New York City, she studied abstract painting for many years with the well-known Post Abstract Expressionist Larry Poons as her advisor. Trixie is a member of the National Association of Women Artists as well as various other artists’ organizations. She has had several solo exhibitions in NYC and has participated in many group shows. She has also won many awards for her abstract painting.

Trixie consistently finds nature to be one of her main inspirations, taking in the colors and the feel of a place and bringing them out later on her large canvases. Her paintings evolve from within and have a strong emphasis on gestural painting and the sensuous nature of paint and color. Trixie rarely sets out to paint anything specific. It's all about color for her. Drawing on strength gained from overcoming early hardships, Trixie tries to just let it happen, trusting that random events will only make the paintings better.
