LeAnn Erickson is an independent film and media artist. Her work has appeared on public and cable television, in media and art galleries, and has won national and international recognition in film festivals.
Screenings include: Hot Docs International Documentary Film Festival (Toronto, Canada), Oberhausen International Short Film Festival (Germany), and the Internationales Frauen Film Festival (Cologne/Dortmund, Germany).
Her international awards include recognition by the Next Generation Independent Film Awards (Los Angeles, CA), the MEDEA Awards (Brussels, Belgium) and the Exis Awards (Seoul, South Korea). Her films have also garnered many top festival prizes including Best Animated film, Best Experimental film, Best Short film, and several Audience Awards.
In 2010 she completed Top Secret Rosies: The Female Computers of WWII, a feature length historical documentary that continues to screen internationally and is distributed by PBS, Inc. In 2022 she completed I (heart) Jack LaLanne: A Cartoon Memoir, an award-winning animated documentary short that screened in international film festivals. Currently she is pitching a television series based on the Top Secret Rosies story and is in development on a feature documentary film focused on the power of art to heal trauma and build community.
