About the author

TAMARA WASSERMAN Bio Tamara was born in Riga, Latvia and raised in Jerusalem, Israel. She graduated from the Bezalel Art Academy in Jerusalem, Israel with BFA in Fine Arts. Tamara moved to the United States in 1990, and she currently lives in Chicago. She has exhibited her work in galleries in Tel-Aviv (Rega Gallery for Contemporary Art), Jerusalem (The Artists House), Chicago (Sonia Zaks Gallery, Judy Saslow Gallery, Woman Made Gallery, Koehnline Museum, Morpho Gallery), New York City (Stephen Gang Gallery, Columbia University), Boston (Boston University), Michigan (University of Michigan in Ann Arbor) and Indiana. She has also participated in installations, performances, theater productions, puppet shows, rock concerts and other vaguely definable art events. In 2009 her painting "Heaviness and Tenderness" received an Excellence Award in the Healing Power of Art Exhibition, in New York. Tamara is a member of the Women Caucus for the Art Some of the recent exhibitions (Summer/Fall 2009) include: Display of the painting "Passing Time" during the Sideline Theater production "Ekphrasis: Cave Walls to Soup Cans" at the Viaduct Theater, participation in the "Little Black Book" exhibition in Saint James, New York, which showcased the artistic process from sketches to finished artwork, and “Down to There: Women and Their Relationship to Hair” at the Koehnline Museum of Art in Des Plaines, Illinois.
