Allison Elkins is an artist living and working in Chattanooga, TN. She has been drawing and painting since she was a child, but her skills developed in high school at Girls Preparatory School in Chattanooga. She was awarded the James Pepper Art Scholarship at Davidson College and completed an independent study with Herb Jackson, one of North Carolina's world-renowned artists. She spent a semester abroad studying art history in London and Paris.
In 2009-2010 she worked at the UNHCR Bangkok, Thailand Refugee Center's school teaching art to children and adults from Laos, Vietnam, China, Sri Lanka, The Congo, Iraq, Ghana and Pakistan. She also organized a figure study class to serve as art therapy for adult refugees.
She has exhibited her work in Atlanta, GA, Salzburg, Austria, New York, New York, Chattanooga, TN, and Bangkok, Thailand. Her work is included in many private and corporate collections.
