My art is contemporary and expressive with classical roots: vibrant interiors, landscapes and portraits, large-scale mythic work, abstracts and more. I am constantly experimenting and evolving my style and subject matter- everything in my life impacts and shows up in my work.
I have been a full time artist since 1986, when I received my BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design. I spent several years painting and selling artwork in the Virgin Islands and in Italy before returning to NYC where I earned an MFA in painting at the New York Academy of Art. I have exhibited widely across the United States, in the US Virgin Islands and in Europe, and my art is in many private and corporate collections across the United States and Italy.
I have painted murals in homes, businesses and public spaces. With artist friends I opened a gallery on Manhattan’s Lower East Side and with another artist opened an art shop in the Virgin Islands. I spent several years traveling the US and Europe, drawing, painting, showing art and executing commissioned work. Now I work on my own in my studio and also collaborate with clients to create portraits, book illustrations and other art.
Creating something that has energy, light, color and life with inert materials is the driving force behind my art. I am also driven by a strong desire to express myself and connect with others through my art.
I have been a teaching artist with the Aldrich Museum in Ridgefield, the Silvermine Guild in Norwalk, the Loft Artists in Stamford, Greenwich Continuing Education and the South Bronx Overall Development Corporation, as well as through private lessons and classes. You may have seen some of my art on traffic signal boxes throughout Stamford or in local restaurants, hair salons and government offices, The Palace Theater or in Stamford’s annual ArtWalk. I am a past president of the Loft Artists Association and an artist associate at the Katonah Museum of Art, and have been featured in television specials on my art. You can also see my paintings in the movies “The Bounty Hunter” with Jennifer Aniston and “Something Borrowed” with Ginnifer Goodwin.
