Amadeus Leitner was born and raised in Chimayo, a small town in Northern New Mexico enveloped by inspiring landscapes and known for it's artistic and cultural history. Growing up with a love for the landscape surrounding him he started expressing his appreciation when he was given a 35mm Nikon FE2 by his mentor, Photographer Don Usner. He honed his skills in the darkroom while in high-school and then went on to receive his Bachelor of Arts and Architecture at the University of New Mexico while avidly pursuing his personal passion for photography and the visual arts.

Amadeus continues to live in New Mexico, and exhibits his work with the Santa Fe Society of Artists while serving on it's board of directors and as president between 2011 and 2013.

He makes it his livelihood to adventure into the vast and varied high-desert to experience and photograph the dynamic landscapes and skyscapes of New Mexico the southwest United States. With a passion for natural beauty, conservation land ethics, and a continuous pursuit of technical precision in photography, Amadeus Leitner works to ever expand and enrich his practice of fine art photography.

In 2011, Amadeus received the Governor’s Award for Excellence in the Arts for his exceptional work in capturing and sharing the enchanting beauty of New Mexico through his photography.
