Born into a Korean family in Tokyo, Japan, raised in the U.S. and lived in Germany for a number of years, Bernadette Jiyong Frank has been working in various visual media encompassing painting, photography and public art in the U.S. and overseas. Drawing on her multi-cultural background, her ponderous yet ephemeral paintings have been exhibited in the San Francisco Bay Area and across the United States, including at Dolby Chadwick Gallery in San Francisco, the Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento, and the Florida States Museum of Fine Arts. She has been awarded a Silver Medal in New Images Photography Awards 2012, and was nominated for the 2013 2 x 2 Solos Exhibitions by Pro Arts Gallery in Oakland. Bernadette is a recipient of a public art commission by the Arts Commission in Whangarei, New Zealand. Her work is held in various public and private collections, including the Crocker Art Museum, the Triton Museum of Art and Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula. Bernadette’s paintings have appeared in various publications including New American Paintings. She has attended Otis Art Institute of Parsons School of Design in Los Angeles.
