Carol Hayman is an award winning artist who has exhibited widely in the United States and internationally. Her work has been exhibited in galleries in the United States and expositions in Europe. She has had several exhibitions in Mexico City and Lima, Peru. In Austin, she has exhibited her work in the Gallery Lombardi, the Dougherty Arts Center, the Guadalupe Arts Center, the Texas Fine Arts Association, Tiru Gallery, the Carver Museum, the Austin Visual Arts Association, Women Printmakers of Austin, and the Benson Latin American Library at the UT. Her work has been featured in the biannual, Foto Septiembre event in Mexico City, San Antonio, and Houston, and appeared in numerous publications, including several photographic and printing anthologies. She lives in Austin, Texas where she is a Professor of Anthropology at Austin Community College. The themes of her work include the people and landscapes of different parts of the world. She has traveled many times to Latin America, visiting the country side of Peru and Bolivia, and in the Far East she has visited Indonesia. Her photographs become fine art prints by making them into etchings using solar plates (polymer plates) and an intaglio press, which has been in use for centuries. The work is inherently ambiguous with a mysterious quality. Turning photographs into fine art prints is a laborious but satisfying printmaking process.
