I am a printmaker, living in a small town in northern New York. For the past twenty years, I have been teaching studio art at SUNY Potsdam College and St. Lawrence University. I teach classes in drawing, design, studio foundations, and intaglio printmaking.

My own work focuses on etching and photoetching, using my own photographs. The subject matter is mostly landscapes and the natural world. Frequently,my work falls into the category of mixed media, since I add drawing and introduce color to the prints. The series of images not shown in the sample works, I feel would be most appropriate for the Art in the Embassies program, is titled "The Hope Cycle". These five mixed media pieces were inspired by a stanza of an Emily Dickinson poem, during a time in my life when I was dealing with serious illness. Rather than being illustrative, the works are more of a visual counterpoint to the text. The poem reads:

Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune--without the words,
And never stops at all ....

The series is currently on loan to Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley and I do not have digital photos of the work. However, I would be happy to provide images if Art in the Embassies is interested in viewing them for possible inclusion.
