Renato Rodrigo is a visual artist, designer, illustrator and self-taught painter. He produces works in graphite and charcoal, pen, watercolor and acrylic on canvas.
Originally from the remote plains of Paraguay, Renato's early life was shaped by the ghosts of a 35-year dictatorship and the conservative values of his society. Despite these challenging surroundings, he found solace in the art of drawing. As he grew older, Renato's journey took a profound turn when he embraced his true self and came out. This transformative moment drove him to leave his hometown, seeking refuge from judgment and local prejudice.
Renato's quest for a safe and inclusive environment sent him on a globetrotting adventure, exploring numerous countries in search of a place where he could freely express his identity and creativity. Along the way, he had experiences and encountered vices which were instrumental in shaping his artistic perspective.
In 2017, Renato emerged from the vibrant alternative scene in Berlin. From 2018 to 2020, he actively participated in group exhibitions held within the dynamic artistic hub of Berlin, showcasing his unique vision to a wider audience.
Renato's artistic prowess garnered increasing recognition, and in 2021 his work was selected for the prestigious Matisse Prize, an honor that led to his inclusion in a significant group exhibition in Asuncion.
More recently, he took part in a collective exhibition at the Objectos do Olhar gallery in Sao Paulo and was showcased in Sensitive Content Magazine.
Renato studied philosophy at the Sorbonne in Paris, France, and dedicated two additional semesters to Fine Arts in Vincennes Saint Denis, France.
Renato Rodrigo is not just an artist; he's a testament to the power of artistic expression, resilience in the face of adversity, and the transformative journey of self-discovery. His art and story serve as an inspiration to those seeking to break free from constraints and celebrate the beauty of diversity through creativity.
