Federico Espinosa goes by the artistic name of "Chacpol" He's a self-taught artist, born in a family of photographers, "Los Espinosa Alcalá", widely recognized as being initiators and pioneers of photography since 1860 that opens the first Photo-studio in Yucatán for his grand-grandfather. His early contact with photography made him love this art which he learned from his father, who was a studio photographer his whole life, until his die.
"Chacpol" good eye for photography led him to win the first place in a photo contest organized by SONY company in 2006. In February 2008, presents its collection of photo-sculptures "The doors of Yucatan" achieving an immediate success, that's where really began his dizzying career, since then, he has been in private galleries, museums and cultural centers, which today has more than 50 individual and group exhibitions nationally and internationally.
In 2009 "Chacpol" interviews with the Pope Benedict VXI in the square of St. Peter's in the Vatican to personally deliver one of his photographs to him, from the collection "Altars of the Virgin of Guadalupe in Yucatan"
He won twice the "The Lorenzo il Magnifico Award" at the Florence Biennial in 2009 and 2011. And the firth Place in Photography at Argentina Biennial in the 2012.
The Photo-sculptures: This are original creation of "Chacpol" In which he changes the natural bidimensional state of a photograph, adding real objects to it, making this way the Photo becoming a tridimensional art piece.
