Anne-Marie Esson was born in St. Louis, Missouri and now lives in Annapolis, Maryland. She studied at Washington University in St. Louis and earned her BFA in 1985.
As a painter, Esson specializes in meaningful commemorative installations involving portraiture, murals, historical perspectives, cultural narratives & themed art series'. Illustrative painted detail, gestural brushstrokes & vivid color characterize her artistic style. She is adept at translating paintings onto textiles via hand-painted or digital reproduction for unique, custom interior applications; such, as upholstery & sofa pillows. Themed collections include cityscapes, women’s & children’s art and a multitude of animated shorelines & vista terrains. Her work is in private and permanent collections of several major institutions including the State of Maryland.
In 2006, she co-produced and hosted Painting with Anne-Marie, a 13-episode how-to series on PTV. Her book, Expressive Painting was published by Sterling in 2008 and has sold more than 4700 copies. Esson is inspired by nature, people, meaningful narratives & kindness. She paints daily and teaches private painting workshops.
