A professional artist for over thirty years, Deborah works primarily in oil, watercolor, pastel, and charcoal. After completing her art training at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia, Deborah moved to Tuscany, Italy, where she lived, painted and taught for nearly ten years. During this period, she also taught drawing and painting at the Aegean Center for the Fine Arts in Paros, Greece. Deborah holds a masters degree from Yale University’s Institute of Sacred Music and the Arts, which has resulted in work that is highly symbolic and has an indefinable "spiritual" quality. After graduation, she became the first artist-in-residence at the Institute, and several years later, she received an artist-in-residency at prestigious I-Park in Connecticut. She has twice worked with composer, Robert Sirota--formerly director of the Peabody Conservatory and the Manhattan School of Music--on two large painting and music collaborations. Deborah has exhibited her work throughout Europe, and fluent in Italian, she divides her time between Italy and her studio/gallery in Baltimore, Maryland.
