Cynthia Shiner Padgett was born in Kansas City, Mo and has lived most of her adult life on the East Coast. She holds a B.A. in Fine Arts from Goucher College and a Masters of Liberal Arts from The Johns Hopkins University. Her work consists of oil paintings and pastel drawings. The subject matter rotates around several themes: portraits, large scale still life, and nightscapes. Intense colors are primary in most of the work as well as multiple layers of paint or chalk. The artist captures moments, points of beauty and changes the scale or perspective to enhance what is seen. The work generally celebrates these points in time with sensuous lines and vibrant colors. The artist has shown in New York for 16 years,internationally in Japan, Belgium, France, Switzerland, and in Baltimore, MD, her base. Her work is in many private collections.
