David Maes Gallegos B-1954, Denver, Colorado. Raised in San Francisco, California, he Received his BFA "With Distinction" from CCA, Oakland, California IN 1975, and his MA from San Francisco State University 1978, working with Artists Robert Bechtle and Richard McLean.
After numerous Group and Solo Gallery and Museum Exhibitions to 1990, David Maes Gallegos won the prestigious Merit Award in 1983 by the "Interfaith Forum on Art, Architecture for Religion" at the Judah L. Magnes Museum in Berkeley, California. David Maes Gallegos then in 1984 San Francisco, created his famous Lithograph (Triptych)- "Art for Peace" at the Desoto Lithography workshop in San Francisco, California, of which he sent a poster of same to every member of the US Senate and U.S. Congress. Receiving numerous letters, most notably, from Hon. Daniel K. Inouye.
David Gallegos was then discovered by a prestigious Japanese Publishing company; Zephyr Cove Publishing, from 1990 to 1995 and 2000 to 2003. In that time, the Japanese purchased over 400 Original David Gallegos Paintings and over 18,000 David Gallegos Serigraphs, With the Artist traveling to Japan for seven + tours of Exhibitions of his work in Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Sendai, and Fukuoka, Japan with Great success.
The Artist's main theme throughout his career has been Man's Relationship to Nature and the Environment; From Super Realist paintings of Nature for Japan, to Environmental issues concerning Man and Nature in The United States. An example was David Gallegos' Solo Exhibition at the University of Nevada Museum of Contemporary Art and his "Las Vegas Oil Painting Series"

The Artist moved to Hawaii in 1996, absorbing himself in the Culture and traditions of Hawaii, and began using Pyrography and Oil painting on Endangered Hawaiian Veneer Hardwoods in 1997, using very little wood grain for maximum Form and Content.
David Maes Gallegos has donated Artworks to Charitable causes his entire career, despite a severe handicap of only one hand from a childhood accident, never asking for any financial help from his country.
