Dawn Ertl is a native Los Angeles artist. She received her MFA from California State University Long Beach and BFA from Otis School of Art and Design. Her emphasis at both institutions was sculpture, but she took a weaving class during her first semester at CSULB and has pursued modes of making with fiber techniques ever since. She appreciates how fiber works symbolically and structurally with patterns and how easily connections are made when building ideas of relationships between people and the environment.
Dawn has exhibited her work throughout the United States, at various galleries including Four Fourteen, William Blizard Gallery, Seaver Gallery, Tiger Strikes Asteroid, Los Angeles (TSA LA), South Bay Contemporary, The Arcade, The Manhattan Beach Art Center, El Camino Community College, Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery, Boston Court, as well as the Cerritos College Art Gallery.
Additionally, Dawn is working on a project called Catalyst. It's a web-based project highlighting art & artists inspired by science. It's in response to the Getty's announcement highlighting science-based works for the next Pacific Standard Time.. https://art-sci-cat.art/
