Christine is a native of Coastal Southern California, the birthplace of the California
Plein Air Movement where art has always been a large part of her life. Inspired by the Impressionists whose goal was to capture light and drama, the natural beauty in the moment, she translates the beauty of her surroundings onto her canvas. Her goal is to capture in her painting experience, a look, a feeling and a bit of mystery that will resonate an emotional response with the viewer.
Christine spent her childhood outdoors, in and around the water, surrounded by a beautiful environment and constant sunshine. She has a long line of Master Mariners in her family tree and coincidently, she worked as a naval draftsman and yacht interior designer throughout high school and college. She followed her Master Mariner sea captain father to all things nautical and her mother into all things art.
Graduating with a BA in Interior Design, she worked many years in the interior and home building industries, followed by a return to university to become a metalsmith and oil painter. Having won many awards and scholarships for her art, including three National awards for Metalsmithing (fine jewelry) and Oil Painting, she sought out the best of the best oil painter, artist mentors.
Among those mentors have been David Leffel, Sherrie Mcgraw and Kevin Macpherson, artists with the highest academic standards. Christine loves painting the old Dutch Masters' Style Still Life using all of her own antiques subject matter and beautiful real flowers. Her art includes Animals, Seascapes and Landscapes, realism all. She continues to participate in many juried art competitions and shows, continuing commission work, as well.
Christine's goal has been to participate in the US Department of State, Art in Embassies program after learning of the program following a tour of the US State Department, Diplomatic Reception Rooms, in Washington, DC. She has traveled throughout the US and Europe, loving new adventures and art opportunities.
