I am independent visual artist and musician who has been performing and exhibiting artwork since the early 1980s. My formal art education developed into a split concentration of painting and large format photography with an emphasis on alternative printing methods around that same time. In 1986 I embarked on an ambitious photographic re-interpretation of the Stations of the Cross or Passion of Christ. I concentrated my efforts on this endeavor for almost 7 years before I considered it complete. I integrated sound, moving images and 3 dimensional objects into my imagery as well as large format photographic prints. I have been composing music as a solo artist since 1998 and have also continued my relationships with other performing artists in the interim as a member of select performing ensembles. I am also the married parent of 3 school-aged sons. The challenges that I face being a parent and a creative artist are complex and myriad but I will only say that they are worth the effort. I have had to take a hiatus from actively exhibiting my art in order to properly attend to my children and support their upbringing. During the last 10 years my concentration has been the exploration of my musical subconscious as well as developing a unique visual vehicle with which I can express myself fully without feeling compromised. I have always felt a duality in myself creatively concerning painting and photography and feel that I have found a true blending of the two in my most recent forays into collage and assemblage. I have recently completed recording my 3rd solo musical project – Showtunes for the Damned – and have released it as a graphic novel with musical accompaniment. I have been concentrating on painting and collage since 2007 and am actively pursuing venues in which to exhibit my most recent work.
