I have always loved art, coming up with creative ideas, and creating with my hands. I am passionate about color, texture, and nature. I love biking and skating outdoors and just letting my mind wander, getting inspired by nature, buildings and colors that surround me. I started drawing and painting as a child. I studied anything art- related including cake decorating, professional face painting, wood burning, food decorating, pottery, collage, and painting. Currently I work as a graphic/web designer and enjoy the creative aspect of my work, however it does not compare to the joy I get from creating by hand. I also have a strong appreciation for interior design and architecture.
I appreciate many artists and art styles, however those artists among my favorites are Van Gogh, Georgio O'keefe, and Renee Magritte. I appreciate Van Gogh’s use of color and texture, Georgio O'keefe’s way of enlarging regular day flowers to make us appreciate the beauty in it, and Renee Magritte’s clever surrealistic paintings.
My paintings vary from more realistic to abstract. I like the brush strokes to show through and the paintings to have a painterly feel. I build most of my canvases out of wood and try to incorporate the natural grain into my piece. I also use wood burning as a way to engrave my thoughts into the canvas. In some of my pieces I incorporate a three-dimensional aspect to the canvas, integrating a sculpture with the painting.
As an artist I love being able to create and express my views and thoughts in a physical way. Through my art I would like to enhance, beautify, uplift others, and to show a different aspect of Jewish religion.
