I am a physician by background. Working in the medical field has opened my eyes to some truly inspiring aspects of human ingenuity, while at the same often exposed me to some of the most antagonizing moments of suffering. My work has provided me the fortunate opportunity of meeting many different people, places, and perspectives. It is the diversity of my experiences that evokes my expressions through art and influences my work. So does my upbringing. I spent my childhood in a small town in western India, grew up with strong middle-class roots, and have been shaped by living and working in two continents across the ocean. I seek to find similarities in differences and unique opportunities in the everyday being. I look to my artistic endeavors as a medium to provide a shape and a permanency to those thoughts and findings, and share them with a broader audience.
Having lived in two continents, I can closely relate to the ‘Art in Embassies’ mission and hence am keenly interested in being a part of the program.
In my current 'Universe of the center' series of paintings, I employ bright and bold colors to show certain basic, often intrinsic, components of our existence. This series communicates vital and central concepts of our lives in a new light which will surprise and challenge the viewer.
