Born in Texas, Duke Windsor served as a U.S. Marine Corps combat illustrator and drill instructor. He studied classical voice at San Diego State University, later performing with the San Diego Opera Chorus, and he studied fashion design at La Mesa College. Duke has also worked as a technical and graphic illustrator, architectural draftsman and editorial cartoonist, and he has been an actor, singer, bull rider and holds the rank of 4th Degree Black Belt.

In 1991, Duke opened his first fine art studio in San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter. Ever since his childhood Duke Windsor has been drawn by arts and music. The earliest work, a drawing done at the age of five is still on display at his childhood home. He hasn’t stopped creating since then. Creative endeavors permeate his soul. Art is his “dharma”, his purpose in life, so in 1986, Windsor opened his first art studio in San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter. Since then he has developed his are throughout a wide range of subject matter and mediums. He has produced a variety of commissioned and historical pieces in a different media including oils, acrylic, watercolors and linocut block prints.

Windsor’s Urban-scapes have been exhibited, received awards at numerous juried exhibitions, group shows and corporate venues in San Diego and Southern California, and they are held in many private collections throughout the U.S. and Europe. His award-winning, representational urban scenes, which began in 1999, served to be the basis of his successful series of Urban-scapes and is directly connected to his newest series of works.
Ready for a shift, Windsor, with the guidance of his mentor Yoram Gil, has made a major shift in a series of groundbreaking non-representational works.

Windsor’s studio is located in North Park, San Diego, CA and is currently represented by Alexander Salazar Fine Art, Downtown San Diego.
