Originally from Palo Alto, California, I have been a Michigan based painter for over thirty years. In California I worked as a graphic designer/illustrator and painter. My design and illustration clients included Cheshire Books, Van Nostrand Reinhold, Stanford University, Delacorte Books, and Benjamin Cummings. Eventually I quit working in design and illustration to become a full-time painter. Moving to Michigan I was an Assistant and Associate Professor at Kendall College of Art and Design, and the Chair of Design Studies. In 1996 I moved to Grand Valley State University to create an Illustration program. At GVSU I was a Full Professor and the coordinator of Illustration until my retirement at the end of the 2014-15 academic year. I am currently a full-time painter concentrating on landscapes.
