Elaine K. Ng is an artist who uses material investigation, writing, and research to examine our relationships to place. Informed by an upbringing in a bilingual, immigrant family, her work explores the physical and psychological structures of site, the stories carried in objects, and the meanings found in material and pattern. She is the recipient of a U.S. Fulbright Fellowship for research in Taiwan and has been a resident at the Djerassi Resident Artist Program, a fellow at Winterthur Museum, Garden & Library, and a guest artist at the Corning Museum of Glass. She has lectured and held visiting positions at NSCAD University, Tainan National University of the Arts, and China Academy of Art in Hangzhou, China. Ng holds a BA in music and pre-veterinary medicine from the University of California, Davis, an MBA/MA in arts administration from Southern Methodist University, and an MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art.

Born in Dallas, Texas, Elaine was first a classical pianist, then a student of veterinary medicine at the University of California, Davis, where she also studied ceramics and received her BA. It would be another ten years before she followed her instincts fully over to the side of art making. During that time, she obtained an MBA and an MA in arts administration from Southern Methodist University and worked in nonprofit management for wonderful organizations in Italy, New York, San Francisco, and Maine. Now, she has happily returned to making her own artwork and obtained her MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art. Her objects and installations are in private collections and have been exhibited around the United States.
