Shafaq Ahmad was born in Rawalpindi, Pakistan. She lived in England, Iran, and Denmark before taking residence in the USA. Ahmad has a BFA from Virginaia Commonwealth Universly and MFA from Texas Christian University. Ahmad worked as an art glass designer from 1995 to 2003 collaborating with art glass studios in Europe like Barovier and Toso Czech Republic and Lindshammar Sweden among others. Her designs are in collections world wide.
Ahmad is a multi media international artist and works in painting, printmaking, photography and digital art and sculpture. She has participated in several solo and group exhibitions in the USA, England, Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates. Her work is in the permanent collection for Mercedes Benz Daimler and Museum of Geometric and Madi Art among other institutiions.
The message of multicultural awareness is central in Ahmad’s work. In her work she is intrigued and inspired by mysticism, which is to believe in the all-encompassing unity of the Creator. This belief influences both the conceptual and formal aspects of her work. Her mystical thought manifests in the physical reality of the work as it relates to our existence in the Universe. It attempts to convey the realization and acceptance of people of diverse backgrounds and cultures and bridge the disparity to convey the message of sameness and equality.
