Francie Lyshak is an East Village, New York City, painter who has exhibited in numerous group and solo shows in New York City and vicinity. Her paintings have been selected by artists, such as Alice Neel and Barbara Ess, and curators, such as Paterson Sims and Barbara Haskell, for juried exhibitions. More recently her work, was selected for an award by Paulina Pobocha, curator of the Museum of Modern Art, at the 2009 Fabir Birren National Color Award Show in Stamford, Connecticut. Her work has been reviewed and described by Gary Indiana in New York Magazine and by Joe Voitko in Review Magazine. She is a published author of a book of her prose and paintings entitled, The Secret: Art and Healing from Sexual Abuse.

Her studies in Paris, Detroit and NYC culminated in a Master’s degree from Pratt Institute. In addition to painting, she has designed and led grant-funded community art service programs in New York City and in post-Katrina New Orleans. She also developed a creative arts program at a large New York City hospital.
