George is primarily interested in creating images of the natural world with a sense of magical, mystical immediacy. Images which have depth and capture an essential beauty. Many of his images feature water in one of its many states, a Greek element that is rapidly vanishing in its pristine, pure form.

Water gives and sustains life, creates abundance and wealth, generates power, provides transportation and food, cools and heats, affords us recreation, drives hurricanes and floods. It graces our existence with misty mornings and dew-laden flowers, snow-capped mountains, blue lakes and running brooks, calm reflections and crashing waves, billowing clouds and wispy feathers of white chasing across an azure sky.

Every drop of water is precious, plants and animals depend on clean water for healthy growth. The availability of clean water in nature is rapidly being depleted. There are still places where it is abundant but many places have used up most of their natural allotment or sold it off to others. Many more have fouled their water with the effluent and chemicals of “civilization”. In most parts of the world where there are significant populations of humans, aquifer levels have dropped significantly over a long period indicating a fundamental imbalance of supply and demand. The trend is very unfavorable and unsustainable.

There is nothing as important to our personal well-being as water. It is our most direct connection to the natural world.

George’s work is a celebration of the beauty which water brings to our planet and to our existence.
