Patricia Gunter's love of flora is manifest as soon as you visit her photographs because there is an immediate sense of engulfment in a world that is captivating and mysterious, and sometimes…even thrilling. Out of amazing respect, even reverence for her subjects, she is able to embody the essence of nature in images. Her photographs have a quality that causes us not only to marvel at their surface beauty, but to feel as if we are privileged participants in the inner lives of these flowers. She makes us believe, or is it folly, to think that in some way we can communicate with plants? Patricia’s photographs make us believe, if only for the briefest moment, that we can.
For twenty years having brought life on paper to all manner of botanicals, Patricia has been invited to exhibit her work in both solo and groups shows in venues in the metropolitan Washington, DC area including the United States Botanic Gardens, Howard University Hospital, the Clinical Center Galleries at the National Institutes of Health, Galerie Ingrid Cooper and the Fraser Gallery.
