Textile artist George-Ann Bowers has over 25 years’ experience creating woven artwork for exhibit and commission. Formal training includes a year at the California College of Arts in Oakland, California as well as studies at small independent textile schools in Berkeley, notably Fiberworks Center for the Textile Arts and Pacific Basin School of Textile Arts. Otherwise self-taught, George-Ann continues the exploration of woven imagery in her Berkeley studio and exhibits her nature-based weavings in venues throughout the United States. In 2005, her kimono “Striation” was selected with work by 45 international artists for exhibit in the prestigious 5th International Textile Art Triennial in Tournai, Belgium. Her artwork has appeared in publications such as Fiberarts magazine and The Guild Designer’s Sourcebook series, and is represented in the collections of such entities as Home News Enterprises in Columbus, Indiana and King County, Seattle, Washington. George-Ann recently completed an Artist's Residency at the North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona, and will be adding a new artwork based on her residency to the art collection of the National Park Service.
