Tom Gormally is known for his thought-provoking sculptures which incorporate wood craftsmanship with found objects and diverse materials. He addresses the human condition by playing with scale and subverting apparent “functions” of objects to create mutated forms and meanings. A practicing artist for forty years, Gormally has exhibited widely in the United States and internationally, and is a past recipient of an NEA grant for sculpture. He was awarded a 2015 Artist Trust Fellowship. As an undergraduate, he studied at the California College of Arts and Crafts and the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, then earned his MFA at The Wichita State University. Gormally is American, born in 1949, and he is a disabled American Veteran.
