Joelle Dietrick is an American artist based in Florida. After living overseas in Italy, Bahrain, Germany and China, she became inspired by the unusual stories of female expatriates. Through her prints, videos and animations, she considers how these adventurous women negotiate their wanderlust with traditional manifestations of ambition and latent desire for a home. Her recent artworks and research considers trends in housing and global trade that complicate relationships to place.

Dietrick's artwork has been shown at the Museum of Contemporary Art Jacksonville, Art Center College of Design, Transitio_MX in Mexico City, TINA B Festival in Prague and Venice, Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA) Chicago, MCA San Diego, Long March Space Beijing, ARC Gallery Chicago, Soho20 New York, MPG Contemporary Boston, Temporary Home in Kassel during Documenta (13), Flashpoint Gallery in Washington DC and as a permanent public art work at the University of Florida. She has attended residencies at the Künstlerhaus Salzburg, Anderson Ranch, the Banff Center, and the School of the Visual Arts and received fellowships from the University of California, Florida State University, the Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst (DAAD) and the National Endowment for the Arts.
