As a native of Washington, D.C., my love for the arts started in my childhood when weekends were enriched by visiting local art galleries and museums with my dad; and studying dance at recreation centers. My journey as a painter began in 1974 when I met Samuel Glover, a fine art painter and craftsman. Through his guidance and enduring support --- a painter emerged. I specialize in oil paintings and mixed media art that are “figurative and expressionistic;” with a focus on children, athletes, lovers, musicians, and women.

In 2010, my work is featured on the September cover of the Journal of the National Medical Association and was included in the annual “Black Creativity” juried exhibition at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, Illinois; and before that on the March 2009 cover of Applause at Strathmore (Bethesda, Maryland). My art has also appeared in Art Business News-New Editions (November 2007), as well as in Manhattan Arts International (Summer 1996).

Major solo exhibitions include:

• “Kaleidoscope”- University of Maryland University College Inn & Conference Center - Art Program Gallery
• “Recent Paintings” - Parish Gallery, Washington, D.C.
• “Giving Birth to the Dream" - Colorado College, Coburn Gallery
• "Communicating Through the Senses" - Robert Asman Gallery, National Broadcasting Company, Inc., Washington, D.C.

My art is in the following permanent collections:

• Maryland Artists Collection, University of Maryland University College
• Morgan State University, James E. Lewis Museum
• Colorado College, Coburn Gallery
• Tri-Continental Industries

In 2008, I began publishing Voicing Art, an e-newsletter designed to increase awareness, appreciation, and knowledge of the visual arts. See more of my art and read past issues of my newsletter at www.JenneGlover.com.
