Jane Skafte is a Charlottesville, VA artist and designer. She holds an MFA /MA from Syracuse University in studio art and a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her paintings and drawings emerge from a fascination with layered color, multiple perspectives, movement and surface pattern. She has created a personal visual language using architectural and scientific abstraction as metaphor, which examines the essential nature of form and space.

Skafte has taught art and design at the university level, including James Madison University, for over 15 years. For many years Skafte Design has been the creative venue through which she has designed creative home furnishings, textiles, and graphic design.
