Jim Ebersole was born in Virginia but grew up mainly in Pennsylvania and Central New York. He moved to Brooklyn in 1981 to study art and continues to live there today. He has an undergraduate degree in fine arts from Pratt Institute and a masters degree in art history from Hunter College.
Most of his painting is done outdoors and he paints year round. While his work is inspired by his surroundings, he tries to convey a sense of serenity, strength and spirituality through composition and the use of light. Nature, and scenes of ordinary places can hold powerful images that can be uplifting. It is the job of the artist to find the extrordinary in the ordinary and share it with the world.
