Kari Kant is a self-taught abstract artist working with acrylic paints and modeling paste on canvas and wooden panels.
Kari was born and raised along the Gulf Coast in Fairhope, Alabama and moved to Washington, D.C. after graduating from Spring Hill College in 2004. She has a studio located at the Newseum Residences located along Washington's well-known Pennsylvania Avenue.
Although her background is a bit nontraditional for an artist, she has used her experiences as a unique source of inspiration and a way to differentiate herself from others. Her professional career began with her serving as a staff assistant on Capitol Hill and later moving on to work for the chairman of an international lobbying firm. She now splits her time continuing to assist in the government affairs industry while also painting for privately commissioned projects and charitable causes.
During her teens and early 20s Kari sketched with pencils and oil pastels, often mirroring impressionists such as Van Gogh and Cézanne. But it wasn't until 2010 that she began painting. She has quickly found herself with a strong following and a long list of clients from her years working with some of Washington's elite.
