For over 35 years, I have been painting in a style I call "Sculpted Oils". Between painting and sculpture, I build up the surface entirely in paint (over 3 inches) with thick, and broad brush strokes and swirls of color. My themes range from childhood memories, growing up in America, American History and Culture, good and bad.
I received my B.F.A and my M.F.A from the Art Institute of Chicago, where I was influenced by the Chicago Imagists and while there I was invited to study in NYC in a program much like the Whitney Museum. It was there where I was offered my first solo at Sensory Evolution Gallery in the East Village in 1985. Since then I have had extensive press, participated in museum and gallery exhibitions, and have been included in Art History Publications and have my work included in important Collections.
I have worked in the past with the Art in Embassies program/ New Zealand having participated in a 3 yr. exhibition called "Iconic Images" which also included Andy Warhol, Robert Indiana, and Chuck Close.
