I was born in the Palouse region of Eastern Washington State and raised by my Mid-western mother and Cantonese (non-biological) father. At a young age, I became acutely aware of cultural differences, and fascinated with the adaptation, growth, layering and appropriation of cultural practices. The disconnect between my personal and familial ethnicity and culture has led me to understand place as a crucial aspect of personal identity.

In my practice, I continue my exploration of the relationship between identity, place, and culture through the lens of commodification, material, and low culture graphics. My aptitude for tedium coupled with my experience in labor including warehouses, utility construction, and landscape maintenance grounds my practice in heavily worked materials to the point of obsession. My object-based art gives tangibility to the fleeting circumstances that constitute my subject matter.
