The artisit was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1917. He attend the Art Institute in Chicago and was a WPA artist. He travelled to Mexico where he learned to weld.
In the early 50's he was established in Washington D.C. and was selling welded steel sculpture at the local galleries. He has sold in galleries on both coasts, NY, Brazil
and has sold to an impressive list of recognizable names. In 1966 he moved to an old mountain to church in the BlueRidge where he continued to create until his death in 2000. He had 21 one-man shows and won many awards for his sculpture. In D.C his family established a gallery devoted to his welded steel sculptures, his small whimsical drawings and his large abstract paintings. The Swann Street Gallery is open on weekends from 1 to 7 and celebrates the first Friday with other Dupont Circle galleries.
