Marisa Torres is an artist based in Barcelona, Spain. Her work explores notions of landscape, questioning our interaction with nature by creating systems that convey growth and decay, through geometry and repetition.
Born in Northern Spain, Torres has developed most of her artistic career in New York City, where she has lived and worked for more than thirteen years.
She is a multidisciplinary artist, working mainly in drawing and installation. Her work has been exhibited in Canada, the US, Europe, Australia and South Korea, including The Brooklyn Art Library, Siena Art Institute, Galleri 5, Denmark, Gallery Biim, Seoul, Korea and Exit Art Gallery, New York. Her work has been reviewed in catalogues and international publications.
She is the recipient of several grants and fellowships and has been an artist-in-residence at the Fondazione Ratti (Como, Italy), Vermont Studio Center (Vermont, USA) and NUCLEO Kunstenaars (Ghent, Belgium), among other organizations.
Ms. Torres is currently teaching Studio Art and Digital Photography at several American Study Abroad programs in Barcelona. In 2017, she became a visiting professor at the School of Fine Arts (KASK – Hogeschool) in Ghent, Belgium.
