Maryam Palizgir was born in Iran 1979.She received her B.A in graphic design in Alzahra Art University of Tehran and currently doing her Master degree(MFA )In studio art –textile in Georgia State University, US.
She is an Atlanta-based interdisciplinary visual artist. Her diverse range of material and techniques gives her the opportunity of thinking out of box and experimenting wide range of embodiment both in process and concept.
Her process primary begins with a series of research and sketches that leads to second phase which is picking out specialized material and techniques to explore the coherent style fit into a project concept and an idea. In doing so, process has become as important as the final piece. She is also interested in the notion of cross culture and make a linking point between people beliefs and cultures.
Palizgir has exhibited and presented her work in group shows in the United States, Iran, UK, France, Russia and Germany. She is member of Iranian Graphic Designers Society (IGDS) since 2004, the institute for Promotion of Contemporary Visual Art since 2012 in Iran. She had an artist residency with the Cornelius Art Foundation in Lagamas, France in 2014. She won a Welsch fellowship for 3 years (2015-2017) from Ernest Welsch School of Art and Design in Atlanta, GA
She co-established studio MA in 2010 and currently lives and works in Atlanta.
