I was born in Newark, NJ April 12, 1955 Where I graduated from Public HS then attended Rutgers University, majored in Accounting, and began working at the family firm. At the age of twenty two, while visiting a friend's art studio, I picked upa piece of clay- and my life was never the same.

A self taught sculptor, I credit my understanding of the figure to my lifelong unwavering dedication and devotion to developing my craft of sculpting. Drawing the human figure from life, studying masterpieces and understanding the drawings were the beginning. The clarity provided by Michelangelo is perhaps my greatest influence.

The years spent creating anatomical drawings has provided me the foundation that is necesarry to have the freedom to create the human figure from within. To not be confined to what I can see in a model before me, but rather to have the command to create what I know. This is the essence of a good sculpture.

I use models to draw, I sculpt from my mind. It's probably why I love it so much. Sculpting has always been very personal to me and is not just something I am Interested in and do, but rather something I live.

I would be remiss if I did not mention, some of my drawing instructors form the art students league in New York.
