Maria Cristina “Cristy” Jadick is a multi-disciplinary artist whose work incorporates photography, video, printmaking, performance, and installation to address suffering and redemption through the lens of war, urban dislocation, homelessness, and global climate change. Jadick’s conceptually-based work focuses on issues of isolation and disconnection as experienced during times of extreme transition in order to build bridges, create space for dialogue, and connect people by promoting understanding and broad-mindedness. Her materials include found objects that serve to metaphorically promote appreciation for an authentic rather than ideal beauty aesthetic and respect for age and experience. Jadick’s objective is to evoke compassion, empathy, love and truthfulness - the best human qualities - in response to the worst incidents.
Jadick is an American artist of Spanish, Cuban and Puerto Rican descent. She earned her B.A. from Gettysburg College in Gettysburg, PA and pursued interdisciplinary studies (Art & Social Sciences) at the Transart Foundation-Houston with Surpik Angelini and Abdel Hernandez; The Glassell School of the Museum of Fine Arts Houston; Sam Houston State University, Huntsville, TX; and The Johns Hopkins University-Paul Nitze School of Advanced International Studies in Washington, DC.
Her artistic career spans 25 years with exhibitions at the Fotofest Biennial, Houston, TX, Museo de las Artes, Universidad de Guadalajara, Mexico, The Museum of Modern Art, Trujillo, Peru, Museo de Arte Do Espiritu Santo, ES-Brazil, The Art Car Museum, Houston, TX,

Cristy Jadick is based in Houston, Texas where she lives with her husband and 2 sons.
