I graduated from art school twenty years ago. In that time I have been a husband, an artist, “Stay-At-Home” Dad, and a home-school teacher. Being at home allowed me to paint & develop my work over the years. As my children grew up I was able to spend more and more time in the studio.

Today both of my children are adults, so I am a full time artist, painting five days a week. When I wake up in the morning my first thought is “Wow, I get to paint today!”

A few years ago I ran across this quote by Picasso, "Painting is just another way of keeping a diary," which made so much sense to me. So now I paint from my life's experiences...things I see, hear, touch, read about, or participate in. I prefer abstracted forms because they allow for more expression. I find myself drawn to contours, the interaction of positive and negative space, and the use of contrasting and complimentary colors.

Some of my favorite artists are: Henry Matisse, David Hockney, Pablo Picasso, Eyvind Earle, Henry Moore, Stewart Davis, Georgia O’Keefe, Vincent van Gogh, Helen Lundeberg, Milton Avery, William Scott, and Will Barnet.
