Residing in Cascadia, within the upper left corner of the United States, Melinda Hurst Frye makes work about the ecology primarily found in the Pacific Northwest region. With the goal of bridging the poetry of art with biological sciences, life cycles, and the environment, she aims to inspire environmental stewardship within the viewer. Using a flatbed scanner in the field, as well as photographing cut paper, the work is process-heavy and place-based. Melinda Hurst Frye holds an MFA from the Savannah College of Art and Design and is represented by J.Rinehart Gallery in Seattle, Washington.
